harmonic balancer
so i have my truck in the stealership getting some work done, they called me today and said my harmonic balancer is going out and it needs to be done for $400 is that normal for these trucks it has 198000

Ask them what makes it qualify for going out? Does it look like it's wobbling or something? I have to say, it's a bad time of year for flat rate mechanics. That feast or famine thing I love talking about.

You need to make sure the balancer is actually bad. There is a mark on the balancer going from the outter ring to the inner piece that should be lined up. If it is not lined up then you need another balancer. Go up there and ask them to show you why it needs a balancer. If the outer ring is indeed wobbling or has slipped to another position then it needs to be replaced. Sounds like a good time to switch to an ATI or Fluidamper
