I am traveling to Oklahoma this Xmas season and with all the bad diesel we have been having up here in Wisconsin is there a station that has better diesel than others?? I have talked to several guys that have gotten bad diesel at Kwik Trip...BP. I was told as long as it is a place that uses alot od diesel you are alright?? But anyway going south is there a chain that has better diesel than others or should I just hit the trucks tops. Thanks guys..
Not all diesel is the same. I filled up at a 7-11 / BP station once and thought I was going to have to dump the fuel the truck ran so bad.
Just like gas, different stations tend to use different additives in varying amounts. There is a station out by the fairgrounds here that is a little out of the way for regular fueling, but any time I am out that way I stop there because the truck runs great on their fuel. The station I use for regular fueling is a relatively high volume station and they sell good fuel consistently.
The major thing you want to look for is a station that gets a lot of diesel traffic to make sure your getting fresh fuel. I try to stick to where I see the truckers fill up so.
I usually stick to valero, shell, chevron, or Sinclair. But the biggest thing is like they already mentioned is stick to where it gets a lot of turn over. I have not seen any type of biodiesel, b11 or b2o, what ever they are, or anything like that. many places are refusing it just like they do with ethenol for unleaded.
Agree with Supercab. A high volume place is more likely to have good fuel than a mom and pop shop where it sits there for no telling how long. But beware of the high flow big truck diesel pumps, they are not filtered as well as the diesel pumps for pickups are.
I fill up a 100 gallon tank in the back of my truck at truck stops and it's got an electric pump on it with a water block filter. The filter on my engine lasts a LONG time. Plus with the clear filter housing on it I can see when I get trash.

You got a clear housing on your aux tank or did you go to Parker Hannifin and get a clear housing for the HFCM / VCFM?
I got it at tractor supply last year. It came with an amber colored housing which got cracked somehow and I went back to get a replacement filter bowl and it was clear. I like it.
That water block really works nice doesn't it? Last time I got a tank full of water with my diesel that filter plugged solid and none of it got into my truck. It was easy to prove to the fuel distributer and they drained and cleaned it out for me and refilled it with clean stuff.
