Interior progress, (pics too!)
As some of you know my house burned last Dec. In March my mother passed away. Now I am back home again and enjoying my totally remodeled home. Things have settled down some and with Mom's estate settled it's time to turn back to the truck.
These pictures aren't great. They were taken with my cell phone.
My truck had a seat out of an Oldsmobile station wagon in it.
I had removed it in preparation of installing the sound and thermal insulation and it was damaged by the smoke and heat.
I decided I didn't want it back in the truck because it wasn't very comfortable.
I also didn't like the door panels very much as they were kind of ugly.
I figured I would put some modern seats in the truck and then checked the prices and availability locally and couldn't find anything I wanted.
Last Sept. I found this seat at a junk yard in TX.
It's not from a 56 but it's close enough. I think it was a 58 or 59 that it came out of. Picked it up for $250.00 and thought maybe it was a little expensive but, I brought it home and found a guy here in Moore that agreed to work on it.
He had the frame media blasted, repaired the broken and missing springs and stiffening wires and recovered it. Here is a picture of how it looks now.
Big difference. He is almost finished with it.
Now I get to make the mounts for it and install it in my truck after patching a few little holes in the floor.
This one is from removing the steel box the PO put under the seat for storing things. There are a few of them as I had to chisel the welds out.
This one is the worst of them.
Here's what he is doing with the door panels. This one looks a little rough because he hasn't sewn in the carpet yet, it's just resting against the panel so I could take the picture.
The kick panels are going to be done in just carpet. He is also going to do the headliner and floor for me when the time comes.
I will post more when I get to use my better camera and get closer to installing it.

Grizz, glad to see things are coming together again for you. The truck is taking shape, and I, too, like the new seat and trim panels.
While I haven't ever experienced a house fire, I did lose my Dad last April, so I know how trying that situation can be. I'm happy you've found the time to join us back here again and share your project. Keep up the good work.

I think that new bench seat looks great! We've been scouring the junkyards down here looking for the perfect seat - I don't think it exists - I need to follow your example & just get one that looks ok & fix it up. (It's hard for a Texan to compliment a Sooner
