So what makes tunes from various sources different?
Attention to detail, like most other end user products, vs "one size fits all" type setups.
Shops like 5Star Tuning have logged tons of time and pull on dynos with all sorts of various other mods on numerous engine platform including the mighty V-10. It's all that attention to what works best to get the most real world results that makes the difference compared to "canned tunes".
Stock factory tunes have to be written to meet all user's needs in all situation and climates, in other words, they must be fairly conservative to meet those all encompassing needs. Generic or "canned tunes" typically make a few improvements in performance over the factory tunes but still leave some gains on the table so as to meet more various vehicle configurations and uses. True "custom tunes" are more finely dialed in via the shop dyno and real world testing to meet the desires of users more focused needs and wants. Then the better tuner shops will go even farther into writing custom tunes to include more tweeks to get the best bang from multiple different other performance adders, like free flowing exhaust, better air intakes, tire and or gear ratio changes and so on.
I have only run 5Star's custom tunes that were written with all of my other mods taken into account and what my intended use was. I have never run any "canned tunes" but other members here have reported better gains with custom tunes over the canned tunes.
I took it out for a spin last night, and it was MUCH better shifting into 2nd, but every once in a while it shifts HARD into Drive. it lurches fwd with power just a very sudden shift. And it only happens when you hit it hard off the line.
wondering if anyone has a livewire ts from 5star tuning. I have been thinking of getting one and would like to know what people have experienced with them and also what item that the unit can monitor. I npt only would like to get a little better performance but to be able to monitor as many parameters as
possible. I do quote a bit of towing with the truck.
