Arrow better shifts

Im currently running a stock 1991 E40D auto trans. Im looking for a bit more control over it for towing besides the overdrive off button. I have a 7.3 diesel motor for power but since going auto I realize the power loss since it wont stay in its prime RPMs. Anyproducts out there to help this? Iv looked but nothing found since theres no computer for it

Hmmm... I would like to know this also, my tranny seems to shift too early in the power band and not downshift as soon as I would like when I go up hills and such... I have my FIPL adjusted best I could, anything else?

That is a result of the 7.3's weakness and the transmission engineered to have softer shifts. A turbo and transcommand from Banks power will fix that.

A turbo isnt in the budget for me. Im a college guy right now. Can a transcommand be installed with out the turbo? I thought the transcommand only worked with the electronic E40D not the mechanical one that I have

E4OD stands for electronic 4 speed w/overdrive. There is only one type of E4OD and its the one you have. Unless you have a C-6 which is a mechanical automatic transmission that came before the E4OD.

I'm positive transcommand can be used without the turbo. All Transcommand does is stiffen the line resulting in more decisive quicker shifts.

This is second hand info, but ive heard alot of mixed results about trans command, and more worse than better ones it seems.

im lookin th te B&M kits. It seems like a decent amount of work to do and easy to screw up. Have any of you done this and how hard was it? Im farly confident I can do it but dont wna to blow a trans.

not too hard just take your time and read the instructions and use a torque wrench to tighten the valve body down

sounds like ill be gettin the B&M kit. Ill do the job in the spring when I flush out the trans fluid. Hoping to pull out a bit more power from the engine with some new injectors and dont want the trans holding me back. I know its not much but its a daily driver and on limited budget

how about throwing in a psd e4od, using a pcm out of the same psd and running a superchips, hypertec programmer. wonder if it would work like that. just controlling the trans and all
