Lately when trying to unlock my driver door with the key it will act like it's the wrong key. I need to rotate it back and forth before it unlocks. Before I spray some grease (white lithium) sprayed in the key hole, I was wondering if it could be locking up further in the door? My truck doesn't have power locks.
A dry powered lock lube, is preferred over grease, as it'll attract & hold dirt that'll gum up the tumblers over time. The grease will get really hard in winter & won't allow the tumblers to function, so I'd not go there.
My lock will do that on occasion & I've had luck with spraying the key with WD-40 & inserting it in & out several times, to wet the lock tumblers.
If that doesn't do it, maybe try spritzing a little WD-40, or Silicone spray into the lock. No need to drench it, a little dab will do ya, then insert the key in & out while attempting to turn the lock.
I've also had luck first turning the key clockwise, then reversing direction & most times it'll then unlock. When I begin to have to do this often, it's spritz time again!!!
Some thoughts for consideration, Let us know how it goes.
Mine did this too. both when I bought the truck about 4 years ago and about a year ago started to do it again. Think its the pins that are getting stuck. Little wd40 works great.
