One of my friends has a 97' F-250 Power Stroke. I can't get the key to unlock the doors from the outside at all. It has power door locks, and they still work from the inside. I think it is the lock and tumbler in the doors. Does anybody know any tricks before my friend spends $300 on something that is supposed to be under warranty.

 

 

Does the key turn in the lock?

Does it meet resistance when trying to turn?

Spray some wd-40 in the locks and let them sit for a while and try it again.

If that doesn't work, you can call a locksmith and get it fixed for a lot cheaper than $300.

Spraying WD-40 makes them worse It is a penetrating fluid that breaks down the lubrication elemnet.
Try some Graphite Grease .

Is it possible that it is the Wrong key?

Do you have the original Key code tags ?

Round-up all the Ford keys you can muster,as they duplicate them
and you might get lucky.
