77 Bronco Issues

My dad owns a 1977 Early Bronco and were having some problems keeping it running. Years back he used it a lot for wheeling and he converted the engine from the stock 302 Small-Block to a 351 Windsor Small-Block. The issue we are having is with the fuel system. We changed from the mechanical fuel pump to an electric pump. We redid all the fuel lines because we discovered some blockage in it (It sat for basically 10-11 years), and cleared the lines coming from the gas tank. The problem we are having is not necessarily a lack of fuel but rather too much fuel. When we turn the pump on and proceed to try and start it, it overflows almost immediately at the carbeurator on the stem. I've heard it could be a stuck float but its a stock motorcraft carb. and I'm wondering if buying a new carb. would be worth it? Another option I have is an old Holley Projection EFI kit (I could find the model # if necessary?). Any suggestions you all have would be much appreciated. Thanks.

You could also install a fuel pressure regulator, check fuel pressure with a gauge, could be too high.

A rebuild kit for the carb is pretty cheap and easy to do. Forget the Projection. 2X on fuel pump pressure. Very easily could have gotten the wrong electric pump. I like to stay with the mechanical pump unless running EFI.

3X on the press. regulator. 2X on the rebuild kit if the reg doesn't help but there's still other possiblities.
Hey gfw!

We have a regulator on it already that's set to its lowest level (I think 1 1/2 PSI). But it doesn't seem to be helping. Would it make a difference if it was located closer to the pump? I think the pump is rated at 10 psi. It was a cheap one from Pep Boys. So it isn't overly powerful. To me this suggests a carb. rebuild kit like you all said. Would you all agree?

Yes. Sounds like float is sticking. Fuel pressure should be set higher when you get the problem fixed. Stock pressure is about 4-6psi if I remember correctly.

Alright. I'll look into the rebuild kit. Thank you all for the advice! It's much appreciated.
