Tail light question.
24 posts may be too late for my welcome to you but will extend it anyway:
Glad to have YOU aboard! Hope yer stay is long and enjoyable! Now yer here did U get yer shots @ the borderline? Can I have one of those great Aussie beers?
Good luck n keep in touch as U seek yer answers. We have other resources as well.
See, there ya go...(can B hard w/o the prts right B 4 U and in yer hand)...I have seen a '60s or '70s ('64-'73?) p/u bed grafted to an EB (chopped to the right width, etc) and it was hard to tell the difference, same 'fender skrits', tail lghts, and so on...
I think he's gone. U still there?
Since yer in the EB section of the forum I'll tell U a story. In my state if the oem had no back up lght in the tail lght lense U don't kneed em to pass inspection. When I went from coulmn shift to 3-on-the-floor I had no BL switch. I just changed to earlier lenses n put a BL switch on the dash. The inspector wuz none the wiser. He said "Reverse!" I just hit the dash switch n my alley lghts came on. He said "Horn!" and I pushed a button on the dash again (put in a tilt wheel from a '79 Full Size, haven't figured the wiring, yet).
If you're still around may B U can figure something similar out, we need more info, tho, if U want more of our help.
Thing is I was wondering if a 1973-1974 Bronco tail light bezel would fit a F100, as my F100 is a Frankenstein. The "real" bezel wouldn't work as they are shaped to fit the curved edge of the bed-end. As the Bronco bed-end looks the same as my F100, I thought it would work. BUT ALAS...nope.
Pertaining Chrlsful's odd modification (in all due respects), to get a back-up light switch going would be a tricky undertaking. What you might want to do is have a careful look at your shifter mechanism. If it's a Hurst type shifter, you're half the battle won.
All it would take is to fab a bracket that would take a back-up switch, which would work with the set-up. Have a look at the "reverse" arms and pay attention to where it is located and where it stops when reverse is fully engaged. Then have a look at where you could mount the bracket. I've had to do a very similar modification on my F100, after I got an itchy butt and changed from column to floor shift. For a switch I could suggest getting one of the old standard Ford switches from the LMC, Dennis Carpenter or National Parts Depot catalogues or one of the cheaper substitutes you get from any parts store. Wiring wise it would be easy to figure out.
1972 Ford Truck Wiring Diagrams - FORDification.com is a link to a master wiring diagram, which is suitable for a 1972 F100, but most Ford vehicles of the 1970's variety are very similar. So, there you go.
Hope that's useful.
