diesel problem

My 1996 7.3 psd will chug while driving. That is it will be running fine but then almost quit running for a second before starting again. I'm guessing this may be fuel as it will do it any time of the year and usually during the first 5min of running. It will also quit running totally while parked in idle after running for a while. Now the strange thing is it will also chug or die altogether on occasion if I open the door fast or close door fast with all windows up. Could this be a vacume thing? Any info. would be helpful. Thank you.
PS- besides this problem it always starts and runs excellent.

Browse through these older threads, it's possible that you might have a bad cam position sensor.

The vacuum is created by the power steering pump, I don't see how that would cause a mis.

diesel problem

I dont know what year the conversion took place from the belt powered vacuum pump to the power steering pump making vacuum, but I dont understand how that would affect the operation of the engine, i.e. making it shut down or starve for fuel.
I dont know where you are from, but it sounds like fuel gelling problem or an O ring in the fuel filter is not quite right and allowing air into the system.
Is there any appearant fuel leaks around the valley of the engine?
Have you drained the fuel filter of water lately? Have you completed any mods to the computer and it isnt bolted in properly?
Just some things to look at ..........
Keep us posted.
