i have a 91 f150 with the 302 and would like to get rid of all the emmisions ans vacume lines i dont need. im not too familiar with the whole emmision setup so any added input would help. i know this wont pass emmisions but im not worried about since im making this truck into my weekend toy. so any help would be appreciated thanks
Are you prepared for your truck to only get about 8-10 mpg, maybe less? And are you prepared to always see a check engine light on? Because that's what's going to happen if you remove the emissions components.
Just asking- I could list a few things you'll need to do but I'm no expert so I'll let others do that.
i just removed the air pump (on my 5.8) and everything that runs to and from it. plug any vacuum lines you take off. leave the egr, tap, and tad censors though. dont forget, you can run vacuum lines to the "tree" on the plenum. cleans up the engine bay nice and you wont get the CEL if you do it right.
Well theres not a whole lot of vacuum lines to take off , most of them you need , you can remove the cats and air pump , you can remove the egr if you want, RJM injection makes a kit for that , what are you trying to do with the truck (weekend toy ?? )....Lew
i have read on here that its best to leave the egr but want to get rid of the smog pump and clean up the engine bay a little and as far as what im doing is im making a mudder for the weekend. so leave egr take out smog pump remove lines then wont i need a shorter belt? have the size?
I think if your truck is your daily driver and is mostly stock, I would leave everything in place. It makes it easier to keep it running right and to diagnose and repair problems later. This is just my 2 cents. Now if you are building a true hot rod similar to what Lew did that thats a different story.
its not going to be my daily driver its already not road worthy with 12 inches of lift and 38s. im not really looking for hp gains as much as i want to get rid of all that mess in the bay.
