79 351M Lifter tick:/
Got a 79' 351M and it seems to have a lifter tick, oil pressure gauge doesn't work,(just my luck). What should I go about doing? Is there an easy fix for this or am I screwed?

It depends on what's wrong with it. It could be broken spring, broken rocker arm, a rocker arm not getting oil or a stopped up lifter. You can try a lifter cleaner, there are several different brands at the auto parts store.

351 m lifter tick
i have a 79 f250 ranger with a 351m
there was an on and off tick and it would never shop when i was trying to show my friends
i took about a quart off oil out and put in a quart or so of atf
its a much thinner oil
and although i have been told you can leave it in with the rest of the oil i just ran it for 15 minutes or so and it got rid of the tick
i dont think it will hurt to give it a shot =)

I've tried about 1/4 of a quart of atf. But couldn't let it run for long cause I'm running straight pipes and my neighbors always try to call the cops if it's too loud haha. The truck's not legal yet so I'll have to wait to drive it around:/ I'll definatly try anything I can though.
