I have a 97 Ranger xlt with the stock radio (4" face with no CD, tape, nor aux input). The radio works fine but I want to replace it with a JVC that has cd and aux. The JVC is has only a 2" face, and so I don't know how to fill in the space. Also, I don't know how to get the stock radio out, and, I also don't know the wiring between the two.
If anyone has replaced their stock radio with a new JVC, please advise.

Best Buy sells kits that allow you to install an aftermarket radio with a 2" space and provides a 2" shelf above or below the radio. See here for an example.
I'm sure other installers & retailers have similar kits more exactly tailored to your needs. You probably also need some kind of maintenance manual for your truck for the details of getting behind & under your dashboard.
