my 1982 f100 3.8l blew a head gasket and so i replaced it and torqued it to 74fp. when i went to put antifreeze in it, it all just started pouring out. I know there is a sequence for putting them on but i'm not sure if i did it right and/or it wasn't tightened enough because 74 doesn't seem like enough to me but thats what the guy at autozone said. (sometimes i wonder why i bother).
if someone could please help out that would be great thanks!
I just did the same thing to my 82 didnt know about replaceing with new bolts!I am now haveing the same problem again! the Manual I have says your tourque should end up at 95 foot Lbs.It says to do it in 3 steps. First bring all to 75,then 85,Last time to95. Thanks to Rouge Woullf we now Know to use new head Bolts!! hope this helps.
Rogue I feel kinda silly, I figured that out about ten minutes after I posted! the info on the tourque values according to my( source )is still correct. But This Manual Has lumped things twogether (incorrectly before)
