i have a 2001 f150 with a 4.2v6 it has a 188,789 miles on it, the problems i am haveing now is it chugging every so often like it did when the cam sensor went out , but it is also going through the gas now like its choking itself. i have changed the plugs and wires within the last 2 months , changed the air filter and fuel filter tonight to see if that would help but it didnt . any ideas on any of these issues would help alot . i think i need to replace my coil pack , one problem its always had it fouls the plugs on the drivers side about every 20000 miles , had ford look at it when it was new they said nothing was wrong with it
well took it to the shop and they replaced the upper intake gaskets , said they was leaking causing the lean condition, still has a shutter on take off and around 65 mph you can really think its missing cause it stumbles , like when the cam sensor was going out i bought new plugs and a coil pack but going to do plugs first and if its still there going to check cam sensor , then may put on the coil pack on , may just put it on for giggles. the shake almost feels like ujoints going out but they seem tight , i know when it starts doing its think i can shift into neutral and rev it and its smooth so who knows
Plug wires if you have not already changed them.
and
Torque Converter shudder, if you have an automatic transmission and have not kept the fluid changed. If you have not, you might want to have a fluid change. My dad had (and a number of others here at FTE have had) TC shudder, and fresh fluid cleared it up.
Obviously there are many other things that could be the cause, but those two pop into my mind right off the bat.
