Last year I bought a 1999 E-150 for work. Now that I have had the van for a while I feel the need to customize. It's got a flame job two seats and white walls(hot rod material for the sick minded). I plan on lowering just for fun with air bags in the rear to carry stuff. As far as the 4.2L v6 goes? It's reliable, but can you squeeze any more power out of it? Intake and programmer? I know there is not a whole lot of van support so I'm counting on truck guys! Thanks for reading
There are some performance mods but not a lot of guys here dig into that.
An intake will yield minimal, if any, real increase in power. Same for exhaust.
You can do underdrive pulleys.
A chip. (but have to run premium gas to really get any benefit.)
If you need/want big increases in power, and don't have a ton of money to spend, and want to maintain reliability, the general advice has always been.....
Thanks that was a pretty good thread. I will be looking for some mustang exhaust manifolds at the junk yard. It's to bad the motor haven website was down i wanted to look into the super chargers mentioned.
