Thank you Les. Yes, I know where the camshaft positioning sensor is, right front of engine block above the crankshaft's harmonic balancer. Truck ran fine till it rained late this morning.
As far as I know the back pressure sensor has not been disconnected. If I don't change the sensor (I'm just assuming it is faulty) will I have any problems.
I'll start checking the inboard side of the engine for chaffed wires tomorrow, as I have checked the drivers outside of engine block and found nothing bad.
I have a 1999 F-250 SD 7.3 L PSD. I recently changed the glow plugs and glow plug relay (1-8-11). After changing them my truck starting running rough. The check engine light is on. I took it to a local diesel mechanic and he hooked it to his code reader and code P1316 came up as well as P0603. He reset the codes and started my truck and the P1316 code came back up. he suggested it was the CPS. I have had it changed (year or two ago) due to recall. Could this be my problem?

I guarentee you that one of the injector plugs has come loose. It's easy to do when re-installing the valve covers. For me it's #1 injector that gets knocked off.
When that happens you have a dead miss and a P1316 IDM code.
Been there done that.
Push it back on, and make sure all of the wires are tucked away from the rockers etc. Also, did you do the 50 cent mod while you were in there, or put the Ford retaining clips on? The main harness is prone to coming loose with these as well.
I didn't do any modifications while I was in there. Probably wont get it until tomorrow night while at work at the Fire Station. What do I need to do? And what do I need to get?
Thanks. I'll have to give that a look. All I have to do is push it back down?
It's not really push it back down. Shimming the connector while you're in there is a great idea, but your issue is most likely a plug on one of the injectors. Look for the white plastic plug on the inboard side of each brown square (injector solenoid). The connector actually pushes up into the injector solenoid and there is a wire clip that you flip up to lock it in place.
Thanks for the help everyone. Tore into last night at work and as soon as I removed the valve cover I could see the wire unplugged. Easy fix! And cheap too!! Again thanks for everyones help.
Looks like I never replied to the thread I started on solving the problem. I since I search the threads thought I'd finish what I started. The cutting out was caused by the intermittent wipers being used. Wipers would through a code and the cps would pick it up and cut off the engine. Replaced the Ford cps with an international and the problem was solved.
