The starter has made a grinding noise a few times intermitently just as of late and wonder if this means the starter is near the end of its life or can it be off centered? Wierd I don't like the sound can anyone help it is -16 today and its the first day I noticed it that shouldn't mater tho I wouldn't think
Did you use your old starter when you replaced the engine? If so, with as many miles as that truck has, it wouldn't surprise me if it was getting worn out.
Yeah crazy put the original starter back on, I thought of that too is there a way to test these starters to tell if they are getting worn out I wonder
There is, but I think you have to remove the starter to test it. Any auto parts store should be able to test it for you, I think they measure current draw for the test.
