Low Boost Problem
Ill start at the beginning.
Thanksgiving weekend I went out to the truck to start her up and found it would barley crank due to dead batteries. I trouble shot this problem.... A post a couple weeks ago will tell the tail. The culprit was the alternator. I replaced the alternator only to find that my FICM had taken a dive with the low voltage that it had been seeing for who knows how long...
I replaced the FICM a couple days ago and got the truck flashed tonight to sync all the modules. That went well!! WO HOO.
Anyway I loaded the tunes back into her and took a test drive only to find that my boost pressure is barley reaching 20psi
. With the help of a great local diesel mechanic he very quickly pointed me to the problem... Right under the air filter housing the intercooler tube has a small hole developing and an oily residue all around the area and the air filter is oily on the bottom.

So it looks lie the domino effect is in full swing the last few week for me. I am a little scared to fix this problem now because whats next!

Anyway I guess the point of all this is I was not aware of the intercooler pipe below the air filter being a common problem... I did know about the boots cracking on the intercooler inlet pipe but nothing sticks to memory about the intercooler out let. So if you see oily residue under the air filter.... Could be the start of a problem.
I am guessing that there are quite a few of you that already know this but I wanted to attempt to contribute to all of you that have helped me so much in the past.
Take care!
JT.
