Marine Motor
Does anyone know the difference in using a marine motor (302) and a regular 302? A friend of mine just blew up his Bronco and I found him a Brand new 302 marine engine on a pallet for a great price but I dont know if it will work or not. Thanks in advance

Most 302 marine engines spin the same as automotive 302s do. There is a small chance
this engine could be a reverse engine but if it is it should be marked as such. Other
than that issue it would work fine in a truck. The front cover and the oil pan might have
to be changed but that's not too big a deal to do.

The marine motor will have cast iron intake and exhaust manifolds on it. You definitely won't use the exhaust manifolds but besides the weight of it the cast iron intake works just as well as a stock aluminum.. which means it's an ok performer but not great. The big upside of this motor is it most likely has GT40 heads and a healthy RV cam which should produce upwards of 300hp.. give or take.
