Seat height

Feel a bit embarassed asking this question but here goes................why is it the seat height won't adjust ? , this is a 94 F350 , i'm around 6 ft tall with a long body , seems i can't see over the steering wheel unless the wheel is tilted down , then i can't see the clocks , any of you guys removed the seat & raised it up a few inches? , must be a nightmare for short guys , Ford must of had this complaint?

TIA

The buttom of your seat is most likelly collapsed making you sit alot lower.

Happened in my F250 also, the springs and wires broke, I re-done it with wire brush. Never happened since.

Seems there's no provision for adjustment , just back & forth , got the original hand book & that does'nt show any height adjustments , crazy , guess i'll have to fabricate something?

you don't want to fabricate blocks for under the seat, it puts additional stress on the bolts that hold the seat down and increase the chances of the bolts breaking and the seat coming loose under a sudden impact (read: crash), which could seriously hurt you or passengers. I'd say rebuild the seat, the wires that support the bottom are likely broken. You can find a new-used seat for pretty cheap at a junkyard, or go all out and replace it with seats from say, a lightning.

Also, If you check with broncograveyard.com, a sponsor, they sell aftermarket racing seats with custom brackets that will bolt right in. I'm sure the good people working there would be able to tell you if it raises or lowers the seat height from stock.

The only option for up and down adjustment is a POWER seat......

I think your seat is just plain and simply worn out.. Refresh or rebuild...

Cheap way is to find a pillow you can sit on, Ive used the idea for years in various cars with worn out seats.

Hmm . . .

Your seat is broken down. I'm 5' 10" & 200 lbs. on a good day and I see over the wheel of my F250HD just fine. The tilt wheel is in the neutral position more or less right now. I only move it around on long trips, just to reduce driving fatigue.

Measure your head room behind the wheel, then sit on the passenger side. I think you'll be surprised.

Either get another seat from the JY or rebuild yourself/have a upholstery shop rebuild your original. New springs can be found for these truck seats. Re-springing a seat makes a huge difference in how high you sit in the truck.
