How do you think "The Singularity" will happen?

It is a concept that sci-fi writers have been toying with for a few years. Do you think it will happen? When and why and how?

Not sure exactly what you are asking but surely there is a singularity in every Black Hole.

It's basically the point at which humanity cannot live without technology or merges with it or evolves because of it. Any way you slice it, it is a tipping point that, when reached, we cannot reverse away from, kind of like Pandora's Box or putting the genie back in the bottle.

This is the first I have heard of this but I think (with the rules you have given), ASSuME-ing you mean everything from outside of electricity. We would be back in the 1800's. Can we survive like that? sure! but not all of us will and life would be difficult and painful. No vaccines, people dying from simple diseases, infections, appendicitis's and rotting teeth, mental health issues and not to mention lawlessness. That is not a place where I want to be.
Back to your question, can you define it a little better?

But each time they did that they altered the future further making the future in the end like always unwritten. For instance after the first terminator which resulted in a jump start advancement earlier on. Same as in the fourth movie where the orignal style terminator came out sooner than he expected.

But on this topic though I dont think there ever would be a point where that will happen unless humans rely on technology just to survive, for example we no longer have natural muscle based hearts but technological replacements to reduce ageing effects. I personally think in the end if technology went away it will be a major blow to the species but not all will die out. Thats like right now lots of people couldnt use a gun for food because they are so against guns but those that do will be the ones that will make it.

Americans are already there... I can't recall the last time I saw a teenager without an Ipod and smartphone plugged into their brains and completely unaware of their surroundings.

I found it explained better on Wiki:

I think in some ways we are "singular" (as a world) already but we are still very different and don't work well with others. I do not forsee us humans becoming singular to the point that is described in Wiki.
OT: I am honored to be living in this time of technelogical development and I can't imagine what is instore my kids but I do know they will have it better than me.
(LIFE IS GOOD)!

Seems to me that this singularity will never happen. Humans are incredibly resilient and, given the opportunity, can survive most anything. Perhaps when the first humans discovered fire, they had the same thoughts... "how would we survive without this heat?" If technology ceased, we would naturally adapt. Kids from all over the country leave their Ipods and phones at home to go through bootcamp and as far as I know, not one of them has perished as a result.

On the other hand, if you're talking about people living longer and having productive lives for many decaes past what we think is the norm as a byproduct of artificial hearts and limbs, then you may be on to something.

I agree us humans are resilient and adaopt when needed. It is amazing what we will do in order to breathe then exhale and repeat as long as able to do so

That is the only way I could possibly see it happening if it did. If all humans had vital organic organs replaced at birth with biomechanical or just plain electromechanical then failiure of technology would be the downfall.

I could honestly see that happening since lots of medical procedures are done just because it is claimed to be "healthy" or "good for you" even though theres zero scientific or medical proof that it is. Wont go into details on it because that is one thing that tends to get me into a lot of trouble due to how strongly I feel about it.
