2003 Explorer heater controls
I just bought a 2003 explorer and when i change the vent selector switch no matter what position I set it to i am getting heat blowing out by my feet it still blow out of the selected position but for instance when windshield only is picked i get both windshield and floor.
what could be causing this and is it a easy fix?

there are 3-4 vacuum operated doors that direct the air to the floor, dash, defrost or combination of the above. one of the doors is broken (stuck), or the controller on the dash has a bad o-ring and is leaking vacuum constantly to one port and causing the door to be open... i can post a drawing and maybe you can narrow it down from there.. do you have an electronic control dash, or just the normal heater controls.?

look at the attached drawing.. what if cylinder #20 was broke or door stuck ? dont forgett that a vacuum leak inside the control kknob could also cause that.
