99 explorer not blowing air

99 explorer not blowing air
I have a 99 explorer that stops blowing air when I get on the gas or climbing a hill. The motor is still blowing but it stops air coming out the vents. Does anyone know what could be causing this? It works fine other than that.

Sounds like you have the manual (****) HVAC controls rather than the electronic controls. Several of the "doors" in the manual system are controlled by vacuum. The default position for the doors is to blow on defrost. What's likely happening is you have a bad check valve in the vacuum supply for the HVAC system. When the engine is under load, the vacuum drops and the bad check valve allows the vacuum that would otherwise keep the door in the Panel or Floor position to close fully to the Defrost position.
