OIL LEAKIN" SOB!! help!!

OK, I have a 79 f150 ranger lariat 4x4 shorty stepside, 351m , c6 automatic.
I changed the oil pan gasket once about a week ago, then I did a timing cover gasket and seal, and water pump. Still leaking oil around the fronts pass side of oil pan. SOOOOO, today I tore it all apart again, NAPA is giving me a new water pump as the one I just put on is noisy, I had to order another timing cover gasket and oil pan gasket. I am no mechanic but pretty mechanicaly inclined and I'm no ford man. This time I cleaned the oil pan with gas, brake cleaner then buffed and painted it, ready to go. Is there any advice before I start to put it all back together tomorrow?
It's a 4 pc oil pan gasket.
thanks,
dave

I like to use weather strip adheasive by 3M to glue my gaskets to my valve covers or oil pan. This assures they have not moved when putting them in place.

2x with 3M weatherstrip adhesive for valve covers... contact cement aka "Gorilla Snot".

Clean and dry both surfaces (I use acetone cuz it evaporates quickly and is cheaper (I buy the gallon!) than brake cleaner. Let the RTV skin over for a few minutes before installing. Cinch down the pan bolts but avoid crushing the new gasket.

Leaks can be a PITA so good luck to ya.

Check the rails on the pan for straightness/ flatness.........If the pan is bent where the bolts go thru due to overtightening...............it's always going to leak.

I did take the time to "fix" the oil pan, the holes were pulled in, i peened them back, and used a straight edge, it looks good.
I also am getting what is called a "speedy sleeve" that goes on the harmonic balancer, it has some wear. I have taken the time to clean everything well. I'm going to be more patient this time.

the one piece gaskets are the best. There is no worrying about wether you got the corners right or not.

didnt even have to use rtv or anything when i did mine. But if you are going to worry about wehter or not it is going to leak, go ahead and use it.

Its cheap assureance

Make sure the plan flange is flat. If you're using cork gaskets on the sides, make sure to re-torque the pan 2 more times over the next few hours, as the gasket will relax.

well everything "seems" to have gone well, turns out I didn't need the speedy sleeve, I took my time and got everything just right, used some blue rvt. and some 3m spray to help hold the gaskets. I have never heard of re-torquing the gasket but I will chect them tomorrow. I did take it for a little spin and all seems to be good.
Thanks to all

I was going to ask about that. Are there no one-piece oil pan gaskets available for that engine? I'd be looking real hard for one of those.
