How hard is it to replace the SES light? Mine burnt out today after being on for two years. It was on throwing the code about glow plug bank 2-4-6-8. Never had any trouble starting the truck even with temps in the 20's. I did notice a little white smoke after start up today for about 30 seconds. Thanks!!
Not to bad of a job, You will need to pull out the headlight and ESOF (if installed) switches. Then remove the radio. You can then snap the dash bezel surround off of the dash. You will have to disconnect the plugs from the 12 V Power supply port and the airbag switch, if you don't have a CC.
Once the bezel is off you can see the 4 screws that hold the instrument cluster in place. You will have to remove the auto shift indicator, which is pretty easy, just depress the plastic clip and it should come out. Then disconnect the three connectors on the cluster and it will come right out.
The light bulbs are in the back of the cluster. You pull them out by twisting a 1/4 turn (give or take). Then you can pull the bulb out and replace.
You may consider replacing all of them now, for a fresh start!
IIRC they are #194 and #34 bulbs, But you should check. May be easier to pull it out and then buy the bulbs. I would assume the stayed the same through the years, but you just never know!
