BLOWN BOOT ?
What happens if one boot break out (besides of the BUMP! you will hear) and you are in the highway or away from home?, Im asking one of the OEM intake boot or one of the intercooler if you have one installed, can you continue driving or you have to stop? or what?
Im asking because I installed recently my IC and Im planning to have a vacations soon (I hope) and its the first time Im going to go with the IC installed. I have some spare boots and the OEM boots and the OE Ypipe, just in case, but I want to know what to do?
Thanks in advance.

If an intercooler (CAC) boot blows you'll know it for sure. Happened once on the 05. They only blow off under high boost pressure like pulling a good hill with a load. If the boot pops you'll lose power and probably see allot of smoke from the exhaust. You can still drive it but it will be low on power and a little scary. But if your not running allot of boost you should be fine.

when the intercooler boots pop of you find out the true gutlessness of these things LOL i forgot to tighten down one some time ago and i was wondering why it wouldnt boost? it was driveable but not fun. a 6 leaker on the other hand oh god! its almost impossible to drive exepcialli with a couple thousand behind you. VGT wont close and you cant get any were. watch out for temps.

I have blown the intake plenum boots off before and drove another 30-40 miles with them blown off b/c I was in a hurry to get where I needed to be. It SUCKED!! There was a constant haze of smoke out of the stacks except for when I was going downhill, but temps never got over like 500* even when I floored it. LOL. I don't suggest driving far with a blown boot unless you have to b/c it will be taking in unfiltered air. If your in a dusty environment, stop and fix it. Don't risk your engine if you don't have to. Fix the boot the best you can and roll on. If you have a couple extra boots then your fine. It's not often though that we shred boots on our trucks. Especially with the stock turbo.
