So I had Just gotten to bed, and am kinda wondering what the burning plastic smell I can sense is coming from when there is a LOUD pounding on my front door, and my neighbor yelling that my truck is on fire. Bolt outside in the pouring rain, and sure enough, My 06 F250 diesel is....well... pulling a damn good imitation of an out of control BBQ. There are flames pouring from under the passenger side engine area, and streaming from under the hood through the grill... In my boxers, in the rain, standing in mud with a freaking hose trying to keep my house from catching fire and waiting for the fire department is NOT a way I recommend waking up...
She was parked at 8pm, and didnt catch fire till 1:30am.....
has ANYONE ever had this happen before??????
It is still dark, so we have not had a chance to go over her with decent light, but she is a total loss...
Yes, i have pictures, and a short vid of my truck burning that my fiance took with her cell phone, but I have yet to figure out how to post them....
The fire Depart thinks it may have started from the right side battery.....
Pardon spelling and grammer, its 7am, and I got NO sleep last night...
Ok, think I figured out how to post photos...
dunno about the vid... But if it works, its sideways, but will give you some idea of what I had to deal with.
And thats my fiance in the vid talking.
Thanks for the support!
Insurance is on the ball, and I am going to be picking a rental shortly. They are sending investigators sometime today.
The weird thing about where my truck is parked, is that it is the FURTHEST from the house I have ever parked her. The truck is a good 6 ft away from the house. I normally have it nosed up close to the garage door. When we arrived at home with our X-mass tree, it was pouring rain, and we needed the space in front of the truck to maneuver the tree into the garage.
The front of the house has suffered damage, (siding melted, garage door warped, gutters melted) not sure how much there is, as it is just now getting light out, and I really don't want to walk out and see the remains of my truck...
I do know that the house WOULD have been burning if I wasn't knocking the flames down with the hose.. And If I had parked where I normally do......well.. I would be in a hotel right now.
I will post more photos to that photobucket account as I take them, and will let you all know what the investigators say..
WOW! Sorry about the truck but I'm glad you're both okay and the damage to the house sounds to be minimal. Best of luck with it. Sounds like you're insurance is going to take good care of you.
