Hey guys I had a thred about my truck not getting fuel and now once again its doing it. Filled up this mornin I am down to a little above half a tank now. Been plowing all afternoon.
Was driving from one town to the next and the truck started b bucking like last time. (About two weeks ago) so I pulled over as it died. Put a new spare filter on and went down the road about 2 miles and same thing. Fuel has additive too. I no I should do an in tank mod but I can't right now. What can I do its snowing and I need to plow.
I am sitting in a parking lot and the truck idles but as soon as I drive it will die.
You can try disconnecting the fuel line off the back of the fuel pump and blow some compressed air in the line back into the tank (remove fuel cap first). That might clean things up a little and buy you a some time.
Worst case scenario, rig up a secondary tank in the bed, use some rubber fuel injection hose rated for diesel and stick a small in line filter before the pump and run off the aux tank.
Set some time aside for the mods soon. It's not going to get better by itself.
This may sound a little over the top , but here go's.
Get some fuel hose and connect it to the low pressure fuel pump inlet run it into the fuel filler inlet fare enough in the tank to get fuel from your tank. This will by pass any pluged up filters in the tank and get to were you can do a proper repair.

My guess is the in-tank screen, sounds like what happen to me. Need to do in-tank mod. Try some powerservice 911 to get you going.
Fuel could have a bit of water in it, starting to crystalize on you as it passes the screen ... Truck will idle but when you go to give it more fuel it dies.
Maybe Jim it is hard to tell by looking at it. Try running with the 911 and see what happens. The fuel flowing may look fine but under load may not be sufficient to power the truck. Lisa may be on to something though with the fuel cristalizing
Thanks everyone for the help!! I am home now, not sure if it was the 911 or blowing air through the line but it ran great on the way home and hopefully will at 3am in the morning to plow again. I did top the tank off on my way home thinking that might help also. once again thanks everyone.
Did the fuel run out of the line before or after blowing through it?
I suspect the fuel pick-up has fallen apart inside the tank (i think i suggested this to you before). Continue to fill the tank full before it gets this low and report back on how good/bad it runs. Running trouble-free with a fuller tank reveals the bad pick up.

I have a hunch that you had some frozen fuel accumulating in a fuel line somewhere.

i think your on to something with this. the good news is i got all the plowing done. the bad news is as i was pulling out of my last parking lot she died again. so i noticed the fuel level is right where it was yesterday when the problem started at a little above half tank. I also notice the longer i let it sit the longer it will stay running. Smoke? Holy sht does she smoke... the fire dept showed up as i was sitting on the side of the road because someone called and said my truck was on fire!!
