UPDATE: filled her up again and also a 5 gallon can! ran great again, so now we will see if it starts at the same point this time and if so then i guess i have some diesel to drain!
I think the black and possibly the white have fallen apart OR the plastic parts may have come loose from the metal fuel line.
Either way, you are headed towards the in-tank mod as the repair.
update again... been snowing like crazy and haven't had anytime to do anything to the truck but i have been keeping it full (fill up as soon as it hits 3/4) and runs great...EXCEPT NOW my fuel gauge is stuck reading full! WTH! so definetly is something in the tank. Anyone else had this problem?

If the plastic parts have come loose from the metal fuel line, they could be binding against the float rod, holding it in the full position.
You need to temporarily use the odometer to monitor your miles traveled between tank "top-off". Keep that jug of extra fuel handy too.
ok got the tank out and mine looks different than the one on guzzles page. i only have 2 steel lines not 3. also nothing is apart except the little red thing that goes in the side of the foot. i dont understand and i am by no means a mechanic.... help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Already did that they weren't terrible but were dirty. Is it possible that its vapor locking because the underside of my truck is caked with snow and this didn't start till it snowed. The vents cloged?
ok pulled the tank, everything was in place except for a red/black rubber thing on the side of the pickup foot. foot and screens were dirty but not bad ( in my opinion) enough to cause the problems. So.....i am thinking that the tank was not venting because of all the snow caked up under my truck, i blew the line out and snow came out of the valve thing. and it kinda makes since because when it would act up i would open the fuel cap to put fuel or 911 in it letting the tank vent. As far as not being able to fill it and the gas gauge not working....well it was full and i think i broke the thing because i over filled it because now it slowly rises and not sure if it is working now. I guess tomorrow i will find out if this was my problem for sure because it took a while to start acting up and i only drove 10 miles home. i will report back
You blew the line out and snow came out of where? Sorry, don't know the first thing about snow, just trying to follow along with what you've found. If there's snow on the road here, I wait till it melts before I drive (sometimes takes an entire day), so I don't know where or how snow might pack, but it sounds like you may be on to something.
The problem is, lots of guys drive these trucks in the snow and they don't have this problem, so we'll need to figure out why your truck is different so we can get you fixed up.
ok there was two vents on the top of my tank, one towards the front and one towards the back. a rubber hose connected the both of them together and in the middle was a "T" valve thing, almost like a pcv valve or something and thats where snow came out.
As far as the snow caked on, I honestly haven't seen it this bad before on any of my trucks or even this one for that matter. i am talking like 4" of caked snow/sand from the roads. My other superduty never gets like this. I am clueless as to why this truck is so bad and others arent.
also do you know why my sending unit only had 2 metal lines instead of 3 like on guzzles site?
Oh and as per the discusion before about it only running good when the tank was full! yea what a bitch getting that down full of fuel!!!! ROFL
8 bolts for the box and you're staring right at the top of the tank full of fuel ! No need to pull the tank when its full. JMO Took me 10 mins to take the box off a couple weeks ago.
