Keep updating.
I am supprised you found nothing broken on the fuel pick-up.
Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? I suggest installing one.

Update: so far so good. i haven't had any problems yet and it below half a tank. the gauge seems to be working. I am going to fill it today just incase. Also we haven't had any snow so the snow hasn't been building up on the under carraige.

no i dont have a fuel gauge. i had gauges and couldn't figure out how to install them so i sold them.
