Hello and Questions
I've been pouring over the wealth of information here and have found several good pointers. A little background, I'm out in Western Kansas and inherited an old, "experienced" '65 F100 from my father in law (I'm only the 3rd owner). She's ugly, but she runs (mostly).
I had 2 questions off the top:
A. I pretty much know what I have but the vin is F10JK583105 could someone tell me what I really have (I know it's a I6 engine, but that's about it).
B. While adjusting the shifting, I broke one of the shift rods (only had 1/4 turn left to line it up too...)
. I've been looking all over for a replacement and haven't been able to find one. I'd have to look to see if it was the 1st/Rev or the 2nd/3rd (3 on the tree). I'm really hoping that I don't have to fabricate one, but I may not have a choice.Any help you could provide would be very appreciated. I see many of your trucks and I'd love to get mine to that point someday, but it has a long way to go, right now, I'm just going for mechanically sound.
Thanks!

I have a similar 1966 F-100, 240 CI 6 Holer, and 3 on the tree.
I don't know of anyone who makes the rod you need, but I can tell you it shouldn't be hard to find a used one. You might try calling Sams' Vintage Ford in Denver. They have had a lot of the stuff I have needed. (303) 295-1709 Many people take the 3 on the tree out, and put a larger engine in with an auto.
The easiest way to tell what engine you have is if the air cleaner still has the readable sticker on it. The 240 is 150hp, and the 300 is 180hp. It says this on the air cleaner if it is still original. There is no external way to know which engine you have. The only difference is the stroke.
As the last guy to post said, post your door tag info and there are some folks on here who can tell you a wealth of info as to how your truck came from the factory.
A bit more info, it's the 2nd/3rd rod that's busted. Rev/1st is ok, just needs to be adjusted and hooked back up, so worse case, I can still limp around town.
Here's the full tag info that was requested:
