no forward gears

I bought a 96 f 250 that was wrecked after having the frame staightend and new front clip i finally heard the 7.3 run all was good till i put it in gear i only had rev. it has a auto with over drive the trully believe the guy i got the truck from he said trnny was fine at time of wreck any ideas would be great thank you

Check all fuse if good then i would pull the pan and see if there is any gunk in it if not then start looking at the wire's by the driver side fender to see if any were damaged in the wreck

Well, you said you had rev. Did you put the shifter in D?

thank you i checked fuses all were good the pan on the other hand had some gunk in it it had 2 pieses that were about 2 inches long with what looked like clutch disc ground in to it not looken good thanks for your help
