Extended radius arm's or Drop Brackets

I'm lifting my 150 this winter and I'm trying to learn the in's and out's of doing so. There are so many options and spending hours reading up on all of them and in theory what they will do is wearing my patience down. I'm looking at going 4" up and fitting 33x12.5's. It will see mostly mud and dirt, not to many rocks. I'm hoping for some guidance here and what would you all recommend. There is a big difference in price when it comes to the two options and I don't want to buy anything cheap and crappy. I also don't need to spend big bucks on the best lifts because I won't use them to their potential. Thanks

Drop brackets would probably be fine for your use. I doubt you even need to go to 4" to fit 33's.

a 4'' with 33's looks good and gives you room to flex a lot paul.

to the op, i wouldn't buy extended arms unless i was planning on doing a sas or building a high speed desert bomber. ttb's aren't completely worthless imho, but i wouldn't put cash into them unless i was gonna make it into a prerunner.

He said mud and dirt, DAN, not rocks. IE he doesn't need flex. If he wants it for looks, looks are subjective and he can do whatever he wants, I was just trying to save him some money. I prefer 4" of lift and 39.5's myself.

I'm not big on rock crawling. I like to get dirty. The reason for the lift is part looks and part function. I want to be able to get deep into the woods and get back out. The increased ground clearance will help with logs and rocks that I might have to get over. My buddy has 33'on his stock height 95 bronco and they don't look right. I've seen tons of pics of then with a 4in lift and I think they look perfect. And the taller cab height will make it harder for the old lady to get in and complain when I go off pavement, she says its too bouncy. At least she can cook.

You are aware that a lift want increase your ground clerance right?? the bigger tire will but you'll have no more ground clearance with 33's and 4" lift than you wi with 33's and no lift

cab clearance and such larry. theres nothing like dropping your cab corner or rocker panel right down on something when going over an obstacle sideways, or going between some tight woods like type stuff.

and paul, idk how the woods (where dirt and mud is ) are where you are at, but around me they aren't perfectly flat and easily manuevered, flex is very helpful. lots of ditches, strange rut like crevaces, and lots of sidehilling and tree and/or stump flexing. just sayin'.

If you start off roading, i hope youll enjoy it, and wanna do more, which means you'll. At that point you'll probably end up modifying it more and more.

I say go with the extended arms. It will ride better, handle better, and it you hit something off road, you wont bend the stock stamped arm and drop brackets. Make sure you get some that are bent for tire clearance. Mine are straight and it turns like a bus. But i paid $15 off a C4C bronco. But im now looking at building my own, Or a Dana 60 swap.

You could easily fit 33's with a little bumper trimming with no lift. I have 35X12.50s on my 94 f-150 with no lift. They rub a little when turned and I hit a big bump, but it is just kissing the inner fender. I completely ditched the front bumper though.

I've been at it in an ametur sense for a while. This is the first truck that is mine and that I can mod. Usually Im in someone else's rig. I have 2 kids that eat money so I have a smaller budget then most. The arms that are on there now have been replaced at some point, they aren't stamped and the brackets are new too.

Say I go with a 4in lift and use drops. I'm sure if an ARM bends in half or cracks I could get a set of extended arms to replace them right?

yep, you'd just have to take off the drop brackets. but as stated if you do eventually get extended arms be sure to get a set that is clearanced for tire movement, otherwise you will rub the **** out of them when you turn. and no body wants to spend good money for parts that are only half-arsed worth the money

The kit Im looking at from tuff country offers the same kit with arms that are bent for clearance.
