Is it OK if I gripe about something. I have broken 3 #50 Torx sockets. I understand breaking the cheap one with an impact but I just broke a Napco #50 on a seat belt bolt with a 3/8 ratchet. Torx is a POOR design. What was wrong with the allen bolt? What is the secret to these bolts. WD40 no help. Next I will try heat then a big drill bit.
take a hammer and smack the heck out the bolt it will loosen the rust then take the torx and work it back and forth ! try to loosen a little bit then try to tighten a little bit till it finally comes out !
The auto industry is constantly trying to keep DIY selfers from fixing their cars. They try to make it unnecessarily complicated to make money on service
I recommend if you worrying about wearing out the torx bolt, once you get it out go to the hardware store and find an exact replacement with a standard hex head on it

that is what i did with my bed bolts...........ford wanted something like $16 per bolt for new ones.............I ordered new hex head bolts from theboltdepot.com for about $3 each...........much easier to remove also.....

Exactly, there is no reason to spend the money of specialty bolts, when you can easily use the cheaper ones
