December 2010 - General Chat Thread
School closed in my county today, but work isn't...........four studded snow tires and 4wd all the way in and no slippage at all!!
....didn't have to D#@*e anybody either.....I bleeped out the bad word.
I actually spent the night in Detroit.
You see...much of my issues centered around the fact that I was traveling with a colleague and I couldn't just abandon them. when I am by myself I am so much more flexible and nimble...and of all days to have a colleague with me...yesterday couldn't have been the worst.
But be that as it may...what a day...granted there was a horrible winter storm in the Detroit area...actually most of the Mid-West...but the central problem was Delta simply was not prepared nor did they communicate with their customers very well. In the end I got bit by the pilot "time out" rule where the pilot simply ran out of time...I knew better and was trying to avoid that flight but let my colleague talk me into switching horses which ultimately was our demise. Thankfully I took control after that and got us booked into San Diego or we wouldn't be arriving here in LA until possibly TOMORROW yet!!!...again I could have gotten in much earlier than him because of my status...but again I couldn't abandon him...
So...in the end we got here okay only some hours behind...we're here and starting work...
So I figured I'd stop by and say HEY INDIANA...hope you are staying warm!
I did score a nice ride in San Diego...an Infinity G37 to cruise up the 5 from San Diego in...nice car...
Hope everyone is safe and warm.!.!.!
Take care,
Joe.
Hope everyone is staying warm out in Indiana today...I'll hopefully bring some sunshine and warmth back with me on Thursday!!!...
It was a fiasco but i got here...thankfully I have such a high status with the airline and have a direct line to call where I don't have to hang on hold and wait more than a few minutes...even on Sunday in the midst of that horrible weather I was able to get an agent on the phone in under 2 minutes each time I called...so...230,000 miles IS worth something!
Regardless of the weather...I wrote Delta a letter because the worst thing they did that day was POOR communication throughout their organization and to their customers...that they CAN control...it could have been a better day had they just been honest with much of their information rather than keeping it somewhat guarded...weather days are hard days no doubt...but giving people enough information so we can make our own informed decisions is critical...and in that arena they failed miserably...and I told them as such...case in point...the pilot of the flight I switched to should have been honest in telling people he was literally minutes away from "timing out" for the travel day and that would have sped up the boarding process...also they kept the people "deplaned" for a longer than needed time which further complicated the "timing out" scenario...ultimately...he "timed out" and had they informed people that it was a possibillity...do you think I would have chosen that horse to ride to LA?...I would have stuck with the next flight I had a first class seat on that was leaving about an hour later...oh well...stuff happens...
Hope everyone has a GREAT day!
Joe.
Has been many years since I flew regularly and can feel your pain!
