I was wondering if a supercab would fit onto a regular cab frame. I believe the frame is a 78 or 79 and the supercab is a 75 or 76. Also the frame is a longbed so would a shortbed fit on it with the supercab? Any help would be appreciated.
I want to know the answer to this one, too, as I need a new cab and would like a supercab with the coil spring front end.
From the first reply, it appears the short bed from a supercab won't fit, but the main question still remains - will a supercab fit on a standard frame (without a bed at all, if need be?) I'm just guessing here, but the radiator support and the front cab mounts should line right up. The only potential problem is the rear cab mounts, and if the frame curves up in some way that interferes with the supercab. If it does, would a 2" body lift for the supercab provide enough clearance. If necessary, could the rear supercab frame mounts be chopped off it's frame and stuck on the regular cab frame?
Surely someone has at least attempted this swap. My idea is to just chop the necessary section out of the front of the bed, then reweld the front wall of the bed back on a couple of feet back. Instant custom Supercab shortbed.
I just got a email from a guy that has a Extended Cab 4x4 with a 460 in it for sale on Ebay. I asked him if he changed the motor out or converted to a 4x4. He replied back that the truck was a reg cab long bed, and the body was changed. I assume someone changed the motor as well then.
