what is the best way to pull the manifold to be drilled and tapped for the sender? I have the front end up on blocks, are there gaskets of some sort on the manifold and uppipe, cant find part number for any?
If you pull the wheel well liner does it help? It might for the upper bolts not sure. whats the easiest way to pull it and what is affected when you do?
I know some say to just drill and tap in place, but most recommend the removal of the manifold. Plus there are few shops to take it to. I had a fun time finding a shop that was willing to tap the intake for a boost fitting, seems that there are fewer and fewer machine shops around anymore.
Drilled and taped mine right in place , no problems at all. Just wear safety glasses, lot of metal falling on your face. Use magnet in hole after to remove any fillings inside manifold.

Same here, no issues just go slow with minimal presure.
I havent done one yet but read it on here. Put some grease on the end of the bit, and have vac in hand while drilling to keep filings from going inside.
Ok called aroundm 4 wheel parts will do it on thursday. One place wanted around $300 to do, gaskets I know run around $50 plus all my time. I dont have the tap etc so It would end up costing the same.
BTW most do not recommend using grease as it may cause the pieces to fall off in the manifold and if you try to suck out or use a magnet they may stay in place!
Pull the intake elbow. Be careful not to break the bolts. Pretty straight forward. The metal is soft. The exhaust manifold.... Use 2 or more drill bits. Start small work up. There will be very minimal shavings. Shouldn't be any issue at all. Grease on the bit is not nessisary nor is it nessisary to pull the exhaust manifold. Should take you about an hour. The drill bit and tap cost about 50-60 bucks. Found mine at orilleys.
Did mine in place as well after reading several good threads on the subject. IIRC I used pyro location and egt probe and got some really good ones. I did not use grease and slowly increased bit sizes until it was the right diameter. Here's a thread of mine.
I also did mine in place..I purchased my 1/8" pipe tap w bit at Lowes for less than 10.00 bucks. As Lubbockguy1979 stated use 2 or more bits and work up to the size. I used my shop vac after every bit. I WOULDN'T USE ANY GREASE!!!
TAKE YOUR TIME DON"T RUSH!!!!!

I mentioned that as well and he ignored it, some people like to learn the hard way.
