Its jobs like these that they do on the "power block" and make them seem so dificult and give you all kinds of miss info scaring you into thinking it is like black magic. Then 5mins later they have a supercharger installed and dyno tuned and tell you hey it will only take a couple of hours.... So the average guy gets scared and takes his truck to the shop for a $300 lesson.
Did mine in place and there were no problems. I started with a dry 1/8" bit and worked up. Don't push the drill too hard and the cuttings will be small and fall back. The cuttings will fall into your face, wear goggles! When you get to the final size go easy with the tap, the adaptor needs to go in a couple of threads but not too far and bottom out. If any dust does get into the manifold it should pass through the turbo at idle without causing damage. If you have a drill and the drill bits the pipe tap should be fairly cheap at Home Depot or Lowes. I put mine into the rear of the drivers side exhaust manifold just before the elbow.
Purchase a brand new drill bit. I drilled mine when the engine was cold, I was expecting a tough, time consuming job from what people on here were saying. Mine ate through the exhaust manifold like butter... it took about 1 to 1 1/2 minutes to drill. Tapping wasn't too bad either.
