Messy oil change

On my 77 F100 300ci. changing oil can be very messy, due to the fact that the drain plug is located right above the crossmember. I took some scrape sheet metal and formed it to channel the oil in to the drain bucket. Do you guy's have a better solution?

I second Quikirk's recommendation. I use the Fumoto engine drain valve (www.fumotovalve.com) and like it.

Messy oil change

Hello-

Welcome to Ford Truck Enthusiasts! The Internet's leading Ford TRUCK and SUV Resource!

For additional ideas try the search function. This has been cussed and discussed in another thread here in G&WF.

My solution on my 78 F250 2wd 400 was to move the drain plug to the front corner. Now I can reach everything from in front of the crossmember. Everything drains without dribbling on something.

Thank you for the information, and the web site address. Look's like that valve will do the job, espically the one with the nipple.
