Banging into reverse

Banging into reverse
Yes I let it idle down first. It will do it 1 out of 10 times it seems after sitting idle for a minute. usually has that brief hesitation, then eases into gear, but sometimes its just an immediate bang! Sure doesn't feel or sound normal. 2006 250 gas 41k miles. Any input is appreciated.

Have you tried regreaseing your slip joint? or is it a different banging sound. There is a great write up in the tech folder.

I had my reverse transmission solenoid replaced inside the transmission and it worked great!
