What is everyone using in their Gas Super Dutys. I have been using Fram gold Extended Guard in most of my vehicles. I have been reading lately on other sites that Fram are crap. Their regular orange colored line use cardboard inserts instead of metal like better quaility filters. I am not sure about the Extended guard though. any case what is everyone else using? I just ordered a new SD and want to put nothing but the best to keep it running for years. Oil filters are cheap insurance so why not start out on the right foot.
Can be had at Wal-mart for nearly the same price as Fram.
FWIW, I have been using Fram for years on my non-Fords and have had good luck. But on a Ford use the MC filters! They are cheap and are guaranteed to meet OEM quality specs.
About 1990 one of the major magazines tested most major oil filter manufacturers products. I believe it was Popular Mechanics. They found that the orange Fram was as good as or better than all OEM filters tested and was less expensive. The more expensive filters, like the black Fram filters, will trap even smaller particles than the orange Fram or the OEM filters.
I realize there has undoubtedly been several changes in the flast 20 years but I have used the orange Fram in my tractor, trucks and cars since 1990.
