When discussing speedometer and odometer corrections, RPM = Revolutions Per Mile (which is what the PCM actually uses to display the speed (on the dash) and track distance).

Is that calculated from diameter or height and like before rim size shouldn't have much to do with it as long as overall size is accurate?

Actual rim size has no effect - it's the tire dimensions but many calculations fail to account for "squish" (flattening at the contact point which decreases the overall tire diameter).

which would also depend on psi, man you really need to consider a lot to calculate properly.

The best way is to start with 3% squish and then adjust from there.

I did mine trial & error while on a trip, once you get close it's easy to get it to where it hits right on the mile markers. Factory setting was slow.

I'm going to refrain from commenting on this as I'm still trying to get my refund.

I will say that they have been mentioned on here before. If you really want to know, send me a pm.

After about 2 weeks of emails, and limited responses I finally got *some* of my money back.

I never got money back for custom tunes that never worked, or money for the rush order I placed. I also did not get a refund on shipping (I understand this part), and I only got 85% of the tuner price back. So, out of a $500 tuner, I only got $310 back from a custom tuner that NEVER worked ( custom tunes would only keep tranny in 1st gear), and the canned mpg tune would only muster a pathetic 10 mpg on a 100 mi test drive with an average of 60 mph. The 100 mi. on the canned tune (which was only one that would work at all) is the only time the tuner has been used on my truck. So I paid ~$2 a mi to get 10 mpg.

I wasn't going post anything more on this thread and keep my issue to my self, but after the email I recieved today from the tuner, I could really care less as it was clearly evident that the tuner did not read very many of my emails about my problem and what I had already tried.

Basically I was accused of simply buying the tuner and trying only the custom tunes and putting it back in the box for a refund. I have been trying to resolve this since mid October. My emails clearly stated I tried all tunes, including ones emailed me. It was also a flat out miracle to get a response to my emails in a timely fashion...a response should not take days. I guess I was supposed to continue dumping in tunes that "may" work or use the 10 mpg canned tune, and just be happy about it.

Anyway, sorry for the vent. I would be cautious of buying anything from VMP tuning over the net.

I'm sure that they do a good job if you have your truck on their dyno and can set the tuner up while you watch as you would have their undivided attention....I would not reccomend any emailed "custom" tunes from them if you are like me and won't drive 20 hours one way just to have your truck put on a dyno.

Sorry about the problems with VMP. Doesn't sound like their typical customer service, but lately the quantity of complaints have been mounting. As an example:

http://www.f150online.com/forums/chi...sct-issue.html

PHP and Troyer have their share of poor service complaints too.

BUT, I've never read any complaints about 5Star Tuning.

+100 for Mike at 5Star - very responsive, just like my tranny after loading his tune.
