Engine Smoking BAD!

I am hoping it's not the turbo. Worse yet, when business was done with the dealer I told the service manager that I suspected they were trumping up work and padding the labor. I know it wasn't leaking fromn the filters. The regulator was leaking but I wnet along with it. I am hoping that the turbo hasn't crapped out or was assisted in that endeavor.
Any advice?
I am also assuming you no longer have any fuel leakage under the hood?
What color is the smoke and does it have any distictive smell to it?
Everyone probably has their opinions on smoke, but here are mine -
If the smoke is white and smells like coolant:
After running the engine, park on a downhill slope, let the engine cool, and pull the EGR valve. Look for moisture. If you find moinsture, is it coolant? If so, it is a leaking EGR cooler.
If the smoke is whitish or even bluish, and smells like diesel, it could be an injector. Take it back in - but find a dealership you trust. Not saying the one you went to is good or bad, but after accusing them like you did, the relationship is probably bad enough you should look elsewhere (JMHO).
If smoke is darker bluish, it could be oil - turbo is a likely source, but not always.
If smoke is black, it could be an intake or exhaust leak, or it could be as simple as they did not plug in a sensor that they should have (like MAP or EBP).
I took it in and they said it was an injector. They need to replace the whole bank of them. $1800. Is this acceptable?
There is a chance that they'll need to replace all 8 and you can double that cost. I thought it may be a problem stemming from that regulator but all I seem to get is double talk. Seems that when it is your dime they prefer to throw money at the problem. If it is theirs they can't locate the issue.
Really pissed with this truck but I'd rather push it than drive a Chevy.
