big engine small body

i want to take a 7.3 liter turbo diesel and put it into a car. I dont have access to an engine to get the dimensions and cant find it on the web. If anyone could tell me what the physical dimensions are that would be greatly appreciated. Also any other ideas on what bodies would work the best or any other suggestions would be helpful

I think this is a cool idea.

An older car would have a large engine compartment and heavier suspension.

Even with the older, heavier car's heavier duty suspension you will still need to modify the suspension.

I dont think it would be feasible b/c of the weight. Now a smaller 4 or 6cyl cummins would work well.

The 6 is very heavy too and also it's longer than the V8 diesel; it would be even harder to fit.

The 4cyl diesel doesn't make much more power than the 300 I6.

You'd have better luck stuffing a GM 6.2L diesel in a car. I know. It's been done.
What car would be the unfortunate recipient?

Try something like a late 50's ford custom 300. Those cars were TANKS! I know, because I have a 59 in the garage awaiting a restoration. Has the original inline six in it, so I am thinking that you could stuff a cummins in one pretty easy, as they came with an inline six from the factory. Hell, I even tossed around the idea of retro-fitting my 89's 351w in it, and I know it would fit because I measured it, I would have to tweak the front frame just a little, but I know it would work.

PLEASE don't ruin a Mustang with that. A T-bird or Crown Vic would be ok, but a 'Stang is just wrong.

I have no idea what the dimensions of the powerstroke are, sorry. My family has never owned a diesel as long as I have been alive. I don't think it could be too much bigger than a 5.4l could it? I mean, they stuffed those motors both in the same trucks, right?

Dimensions and weight would be the starting point. But it's been done with quite good results:
