Clutch linkage

Hi All, anyone have an idea for a cable actuated clutch in a 54?? I want to use the stock pedal assembly and have installed a 5 spd top loader behind a 5.0. Donator was a 86 stang. It was initially a cable clutch and that assembly will not work in the 54.
Have a great day and think spring, it should be here along about July.

I can't think of any cable clutch linkages that might work. Consider a hydraulic setup? Randy

Not familiar with your setup but have used a piece of small chain on a 50 F! for linkage before

Clutch linkage

I tried to do that when I first built the '55. The firewall had a lot of flex. I ended up building mechanical linkage for my setup which appears to be much like yours. Shoot me a PM and I will e-mail you pictures of how I did mine. It may take a few days.

Basically, I used the stock pedal and equalizer. I built a bracket off of the transmission crossmember that supports the inboard end of the equalizer.. I welded a tab to the equalizer for the clutch actuator rod to bolt to. (the original rod attachment point is no longer parallel with the new clutch fork attachment point.) I welded another tab to the throwout fork. Both tabs are verticle. There is a piece of 3/8 hard (shifter) rod between two heim joints that actually operates the clutch. I ruined one Centerforce Gold clutch over pushing it. On REV 2.0, I got the lengths correct. Lengths are not as critical if you are running a Long or Borg and Beck style clutch. Pedal pressure is nice.

Thanks for responses guys. Have considered hydraulic but am also looking at mechanical. I'd like to see a follow thru on your design w/linkage as that seems the most viable. Feel free to contact me at via E-mail at this service. Looking forward to hearing from you. Have a good one,
Surefoot.....
