NO, well, basically he took the "mill ends" of what was left out of the original crossmember after he cut it off conpletely - in almost exactly the same place as mine - and fabricated a new design aft and lower to graft onto it.
It's a great design as far as transmission support but unfortunately with the rearward addition, it offers very little lateral stabuility to the frame as did the original. The dimensions are not correct for that kind of stabiltiy.
What tranny is that you are using in the picture? I really like how simple this would be to consturct and still keep the structural rigidity of the crossmember.
But it's not a C6 in the pic. It looks like a LD overdrive install maybe?????
Also noteworth, is that the original crossmember cut out has not been touched in this. The mount is designed to accomodate the bolt up that is farther back.
One of the big factors in the available depth needed is how much farther aft the transmission cross member in the F2 is - if at all. That will make a big difference as well. You can see by my pictures you aren't talking about it being a "close fit" with the F1 crossmember, it goes right through the middle of the member. And the after market cross member is at least 6 inches aft of it as installed. That C6 in my truck has a maximum of about 1/4 inch of clearance to the transmission cover both vertically and horizontally (in the front).
So, it's not going up or back any farther - when push comes to shove, it's the cross member that gets modified.
