390 emissions question

Hello, I have an emission question. In 74 they lowered the compression? If so what other things did they do to the 390, also did the 73 fords have a better 390 or not? My strong points are on the 48-52, Not on 390s, but I am curious.

Not sure on this, but among other things i would assume they got larger combustion chambers, smaller less aggressive cams, and more retarted valve timing. Just typical 70-80s smog motor stuff.
