was searching for info to help me with my f150 and found this site, looks like there is a lot of good info going around here and i want in on it. im a good mechanic with a desire to fix an old vehicle than to buy a new one. got a sweet 85 f150, straight body, straight six engine. currently trying to figure out why the truck sputters while driving. ive considered doing carb and ignition upgrades to the engine because its quite the powerhouse. however i have a freshly rebuilt 302 engine which i am more than likely going to swap. any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Glad to have you on the forum! There are many folks who are willing to help you as they have for me many times so you can look forward to tons of info.
As far as the engine swap, don't do it! Stick with the 300 I-6, I wouldn't trade mine for 20 302's. Do a little reading on the 300 and you'll see it can be made into quite the powerhouse.
Let me suggest you start a new thread, appropriately titled for your particular issue, ie "Sputtering while driving", and explain what's going on as completely as you can. Tell us all that you have done to diagnose your problem.
From there, we'll have a base point to work from, and to offer you suggestions. Hang with the thread until you get it all worked out, and tell us what finally fixed your problem. That way someone in the future, with a similar issue, can use the information in this thread and maybe be able to go right to their own solution.
