Engine swap
I'm looking into the feasability of swapping the ford 300 six into my
jeep CJ7. I'm currenly on my second Ford F150 with the straight six
and I love the engine. Lot's of torque, and good power as well.
Anyhow, does anyone know a good site as to where I can find length, height info for the engine, as well as length info on the transmissions/transfer cases? If it's available on this site here, I can't find it.
Thanks,
Tim
jeep inline si
258)-4.0 is similar- width=24", length=35", height=29", rear oil sump, starter on left, weight=440 lbs.ford 300/4.9-width=22", length=32", height=28", middle or rear sump, starter on right, weight=400lbs!!
now, here's the interesting thing, the jeep bellhousings for many years and models have the ford pattern to hook to transmission!!!!!
I'll tell you now, I'm going to shopping for a jeep cj5 or 7 and doing this swap myself!! had aa 76 cj5 now have 88f150 inline 6. like them both!!
watch for extra height or width caused by fuel injection aand accesories, but otherwise it seems like it might work.
interesting project any way.
I hve seen several 302/ 5.0 swaps into jeeps, but I love the inline six.hope this helps.
